This basically covers how I feel about TV.

I saw an article in the Boston Globe written by a woman named Misha Dzhindzhikhashvili. Thank goodness Ian’s last name is Ferguson. Also today a girl named Tiffany and I proved we remembered the most Major American Writers trivia, and thus earned ourselves the dubious honor of accolades from our professor plus a nice black book full of blank pages to journal in. Going through and numbering them, I discovered that on page 151, an insect had the bad luck to get between the press and the page, thus becoming forever incorporated into my journal. Selling Your Differences

Have you noticed how being a white male in our society is a disadvantage? I may have gotten in to WPI as a result of my gender: somebody in admissions trying, in a small way, to narrow the disparity between the male-female ratio here. Companies look to hire “diversity” – that is, people of color (though white somehow doesn’t count), minorities, disabled people, people with alternative sexual desires… It appears that, today, diversity has become so deified that being different is a commodity. I could sell my female-ness, use it as an advantage, if I desired to go into a male-dominated field like electrical engineering. Companies jump at the chance to hire females. If I were a black or Latino female, none of the othe candidates would have a chance, thanks to affirmative action. Continue Reading >>
