A long time ago there was a quiet pool rippling with the kiss of fish to the surface. Rolling green hills ringed the water as their elder brothers loomed purple-and-white in the distance. Breezes off the snow came down to ruffle hair and new leaves alike. Listening carefully, the whisper of those leaves rubbing together sounded like the shift of shadows and light with which their movement speckled the grass. Louder and nearer the sounded the golden dog’s panting as fingers twined through long fur and through long grass. Cool green tickled bare legs but golden and clear flowed sun rays through the empty sky, a perfect moment. An impossible moment.
