So Congress opened up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil drilling (see also here and here. Or do a Google News search for Alaska oil drilling). But I have a better idea. Why don’t we all just plug ourselves in? Human bodies produce plenty of electricity — take those unwanted third-world people; nobody’d miss them. Better yet, why not suck the life out of all creation right now, put it in barrels, and hoard it? Then we could keep driving our Hummers, leaving our computers and lights on all the time, eating our beef and perfectly pesticided fruits, and never have to worry about energy shortages again!
Excuse me while I go join the Sierra Club.

I read something to the effect that many conservative Republicans believe these are the last days, so enviromental issues are basically wasted time, cause if the world is going to end, who cares what shape it’s in?
OPEC fiddles with production, raises regular unleaded to almost 2$ a gallon, and everybody starts crapping their pants. This will have no effect on prices for years, in fact they will have to be raised to get the moneys to build this mammon machine. Oh yes, I went there, and I liked it.
