Day’s Verse:
O Lord my God, in You I have taken refuge; save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me, or he will tear my soul like a lion, dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.
Psalm 7:1-2

…Gonna find a big one.

Ian and I decided last night that we need a change in our lives. We need to get a hobby that we can do together – the kind where you sit around the kitchen table, do your hobby, and talk. There’s not much shared fun time between us; we have slipped away from doing things together, and we’re feeling it in the disconnection. We’ve considered:

Raising yaks
Painting mini-figurines
Getting body piercings
Collaging
Going for walks
Killing gigantic centipedes
Playing a sport (badminton/bowling)
Learning a new language
Doing a Bible Study together
Reading Clive Cussler books aloud and laughing
Learning sign language
Crocheting

What are some fun hobbies you enjoy that we might take up? Remember: Cheap = Good.

  1. I think reading James Patterson books outloud, in his voice, would be more fun though.

If neither of you have ever knitted before go for that, otherwise you wouldn’t be starting on the same level, and that isn’t as fun.

  2. My experience with house centipedes:

As for hobbies, I’m not really sure. Mark and I sometimes just lie in bed together and read books, though that doesn’t involve talking. I suggest you go to somewhere like Michael’s and look for fun little craft stuff that you’d both like to do. Like creating a model car or something (Mark likes doing that).

  3. Oh, but I meant to say, I let the centipede go outside, because I was too squicked out by the thought of squishing such a huge bug, and I didn’t even think about flushing it, which probably also would have squicked me out. So, I brought it outside and let it go in the bushes. It probably just came back inside, but oh well. 🙂

  4. Ian was quite the multi-media artist when he was about 2 1/2–I think he should get back to his creative roots and do some crafts. Sculpy clay is fun!

  5. NOTICE! I’ll mention this in my blog tomorrow, but I wanted to point out that NQN has been reincarnated. As one of the many new hobbies I’m taking up (crosses fingers), I’m looking for out-of-New-England license plates on the walks Ian and I take. I’ll take a picture of them and post them with a comment on Not Quite Newsworthy. Go see what four states we found today!
