Remember When…

Day’s Verse:
He who is generous will be blessed,
For he gives some of his food to the poor.

Proverbs 22:9

Here is a historic article I ran across on CNN. Ian and I paid $2.81 to fill Weathers up — that’s $25 for the whole tank in a super-efficient vehicle. I pity all you suckers out there who drive less efficient vehicles. Truly I do.

Real Men Don’t Need Hair

Day’s Verse:
He who guards his mouth and his tongue,
Guards his soul from troubles.

The horse is prepared for the day of battle,
But victory belongs to the Lord.

Another Mossy BitI don’t usually use this as a forum for my complaints. But when I take yet another uninspiring-temperature shower, I feel the urge to say something. The something is this: How can the apartment no longer have hot water for showering? All my showers for the last two weeks have unfailingly ranged from icy to, at best, tepid. I shaved my legs in tepid water (which quickly feels cold, let me tell you) for Easter; I’ve skinnied my in-shower time to a bare, miserable minimum followed by half an hour of shivering outside the shower. Easter, Secret-Style

Day’s Verse:
But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen.”

Everything Will Always Be Alright When We Go Shopping.

Day’s Verse:
When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell ofver the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Having said this, He breathed His last.

Drink It Like Medicine

~~~
Day’s Verse:
It is better to live in a corner of a roof
Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.
Proverbs 21:9
Not nearly so sick (fever vanished yesterday), but have cleverly added apparent severe dehydration to regular illness. Am embarking on a rehydration program involving liters of water, bananas, and Gatorade. I have always hated Gatorade and other sports drinks, but Mom called all the way from California to admonish me to avoid hospitalization. If I refrain from drinking it, she will keep nagging me until I do something responsible. So here goes… My gosh, it tastes exactly like un-solidified Jell-O. Can people seriously drink this voluntarily?! Now I understand why the world’s going so wrong, if everybody drinks this piss (and worse). No spoon full of sugar will make this medicine go down, I’ll tell you that much. Continue Reading >>
Seriously Dragging
Day’s Verse:
Bread obtained by falsehood is sweet to a man,
But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.
Proverbs 20:17
Striped Bricks ColorI have had the most unlucky term ever as diseases go. At the very beginning of the term, I got a high fever for several days, followed up with a nice cold. Then last weekend I got pink eye. Then this Sunday I started feeling under the weather, and now without Tylenol I’m consistently running a fever of 102.4°. Yesterday I struggled through the day on high doses of Tylenol, but when I woke up this morning feeling exactly the same as I did yesterday morning, I had to question the sanity of just taking Tylenol and acting as normal as possible. New Perspective: Part 1
Day’s Verse:
Many plans are in a man’s heart,
But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
Proverbs 19:21
HeadshotI’ve gotten to spin my wheels a lot lately, a wonderful break from my first months. Before I drove all of two miles, but in the last week I’ve added another 90 miles on to that count, and it’s all quite exciting. At first when the Master drove me home, we only went a parking lot where he left and came back with lots of smelly food stuff. I saw lots of other cars, but I never knew the world contained so many old ones! My whole life I have spent with peers, but now I realize that there are hundreds of elderly cars still limping around whose owners ought to just let them go. Poor old things. Continue Reading >>
