As of September 1, I could have ridden this route on my bike from Boston to Seattle, plus a little bit:

Alternatively, you could look at it this way, pretending I could ride in a perfectly straight line across the globe:
For more international references, I ridden from Marlborough to Brazil, Portugal, or London, if I could ride straight across oceans.
Ian and I are counting September 1 as a new year for me in bicycling (I have ridden 145 miles since then so far), and we will be keeping weekly metrics this year. I will probably post graphs occasionally showing my mileage, which right now averages about 100 miles/week, and is often more like 110 miles/week. Because of this heavy riding, on Saturday I had to replace my chain and the rear shifting cable. This surprised me, but the bike shop guy told me that 1,500 miles on a chain is a reasonable amount of use, and he said that at my current mileage I will have to replace my cables every four months or so. Who knew?
