The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.

Not a speed record — my commute took a seemingly endless 1 hr, 8 min — but a coldness record. The NOAA weather for our area says that it’s 8°F (-13°C) with a windchill that brings the temperature to -4°F (-20°C). I well believe it. My eyelids were sticking when I blinked.
This is the power of wool, though: I wore two pairs of merino wool socks, with another fuzzy outer sock, and those plus my booties kept my feet warm enough that I still had feeling in my toes by the time I arrived at work. Granted, I was feeling lots of cold in my toes, but they didn’t even have that alarming white look that I’ve had previous winters. More wool socks for me!
