Really cheap, oily peanut butter is interchangeable with Crisco in peanut butter cookies.
Replace 1/2 C. Crisco with 1/2 C. peanut butter in cookie recipe. Prepare as directed otherwise.
Before baking, cookie dough exhibits extreme crumblyness and requires heavy compaction to form into 1″ dough balls.
Baked cookies appear unchanged from dough balls, except for slight burning on the bottom and a faint golden tinge here and there. There is clearly no expansion of cookies on the pan, and finger-marks from dough-ball formation remain clearly visible.
Baked cookies crumble into tiny bits under extremely minor provocation; moving cookies causes them to fall apart. Cookies are not flattened with fork as directed because of crumbling risk.
When ingested, cookies taste like peanut butter cookies, but are extremely dry and difficult to eat due to crumbling hazard. Subjects agree that consuming experimental cookies requires copious volumes of milk.
Crisco and peanut butter are not readily interchangeable. Recommend following recipe in the future and consuming remaining experimental cookies with milk or as crumbled topping on vanilla ice cream.
