Day’s Verse:
They will tell of the power of your awesome works,
and I will proclaim your great deeds.

They will celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.

Psalm 145:6-8

Pink FlamingoActually, I find it kind of offensive now, and I’m nowhere near being a mom. Here it is: On my daily ride, I pass a sign that somebody put in their yard. It says

ATTENTION MOMS!
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Work From Home
999-999-9999

To me, this sign more than slightly implies that moms not working from home aren’t making a difference. Based on my observations of stay-at-home moms, I would have to argue that those women could hardly make more difference than the difference they’re already making by raising their kids.

Of course, with these tough economic times, maybe the sign means “Make a financial difference.” That would be reasonable. If I was them, though, I would say what I meant rather than risking the implication that without working moms don’t make a difference. Then again, it could always be one of those pyramid schemes that promises you lots of cash and ends up squeezing you like a lemon, and if that was the case, I would hardly expect them to worry about the nuances of their propaganda.

Anyhow, every time I see that sign it ruffles my feathers.
