Day’s Verse
“No, this is the kind of fasting I want:
Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people.
Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.”

Isaiah 58:6-7 (context)

Looking toward the future.Hello. I am Katie’s new, improved, Blogger-free blog. As you know by now, Blogger stopped supporting FTP-based blogs because they took too much work. Simultaneously, Haloscan, which provided Katie’s commenting functionality, decided to throw in the towel. After some serious deliberation (it took about 30 seconds) Ian and Katie agreed to both finally make the switch to me — WordPress.

In the move, Katie honestly assessed most of the content from her previous blog and admitted that nobody, including herself, actually ever looked at them. In fact, she never updated them again after she created them back in 2006. Thus, she has trashed the vast majority of that content and refined the content I get to display for your viewing pleasure. Here are some of my features you might want to take note of.

Run-Down of New Blog Features

  1. The About tab provides basic information about me and probably has no value for you, since you’re all Katie’s family or friends anyway.
  2. The Links tab remains under construction but already contains all Katie’s old links to other blogs.
  3. The Archives tab contains a list of all Katie’s old Blogger blog posts, which Ian rescued from Blogger before he and Katie jumped ship (kind of like the way Rose ended up with the Heart of the Ocean at the end of Titanic). All Haloscan comments also came with the posts, thanks to Ian’s magic touch.
  4. My new favorite feature, the NaNoWriMo tab offers a synopsis of all my NaNoWriMo novels to date and includes links to hyperlinked, bookmarked PDFs of all of them. They should be much more user-friendly in this format.

In the sidebar, you’ll find (in this order) Katie’s 3 most recent Flickr pictures, Ian’s 4 most recent Twitter posts, and Katie’s 3 most recent +3 Networks activities. Katie also plans on categorizing and tagging her posts for easier classification, and a list of categories appears at the bottom of the sidebar.

At the very bottom right-hand corner of the page, in the dirt, you’ll find links to the RSS feed for Katie’s posts and comments.

It was wonderful meeting you, and I hope you’ll come back often. Next time maybe we can talk about you a little bit, OK? Or maybe not. I do love to hear myself talk.

  1. Well you’re a very attractive blog. Maybe you and I can hang out this weekend, I know a good pizza place, afterwards we can parse some feeds, I don’t know, get crazy, whatever.

  2. Hello WordPress Blog! I’m just wondering why you speak Latin at the bottom of yourself. I don’t understand you. Otherwise, I’m sure I’ll enjoy you just fine. 🙂

  3. I followed your link over from the Women’s Cycling Forum.

Love your blog and your pink bike fenders.

I’m also a little jealous of all your bike paths. Maui is paradise in many ways, but not when it comes to bike paths.

Best regards and good luck with your new blog.

P.S. – I’ve done NaNoWriMo for the last six years.
