One of the things about coming down to California… I forgot that there are places in the world where a person still needs sunglasses in November!

Today I felt well enough that Mom and I took our Buick Cascada rental convertible for a drive into the coastal mountain range with the top down. It was still like 55 degrees, but hey, sunshine!

Unfortunately, I didn’t feel energetic enough to make it all the way to the coast, but we did get high enough into the hills to transition to glorious towering redwoods and spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay.

My only regret is that I didn’t get to bike up there before my surgery. But it’ll be there after I recover, and I’ll have two legs to ride up those hills with — and it looks like I’ll need ’em.
