Head Over Tail

Day’s Verse:
[Love] is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Cor. 13:5 – 7

We look a little filmy in this picture because it was a long exposure. Also I am experimenting with different backgrounds for the blog and have successfully gotten the blog looking tolerable in Netscape/Firefox. Still having title issues (it should NOT just be a silly little link) and problems with text placement in the Links and Ian’s Blog box. Continue Reading >>

Day’s Verse:
These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
Titus 2:15

This morning as I did my Bible Study in the 30 precious minutes of sun that seeps into our apartment, and idea struck me. I fit in the window. There is sun in the window. I have a tripod, a camera with a 10-second timer, and adjustable shutter speeds and aperature. What am I waiting for? Results were varied, but Ian contends this turned out the best. You can click the picture for a larger view. I somewhat agree with Ian insofar as the reflection of my face in the picture on the right was unintended but cool. Other more zoomed-in images have a different, more intimate feel. I think this captures my mood in the morning fairly well: quiet, pensive, not as energetic as later – slowing down to take some time with God. Although I will admit I don’t usually sit in the window while doing my Bible Study. Continue Reading >>

Day’s Verse:
But [be] hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled, holding fast to the faithful word…
Titus 1:7-9

A good day today. I did not do as much homework as I might have liked, but not every day is cut out for homework. A girl from my Bible Study, Karissa, drove me out to an organic food store, where I purchased whole dried strawberries for $1/1.4 oz, 1.25 lbs of raspberry granola (I love granola!), Celestial Seasonings teas, a small bag of veggie-type chips, and two small containers of organic peanut butter. Frankly I consider the dried strawberries a wonderful find, and not in small part because they came from the Pacific Northwest. My mind is awash with things to put delicious chopped dried strawberries in – maybe even muffins or a coffee cake! Continue Reading >>

Day’s Verse:
All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.

Let me introduce the Kitchen Queen, our guardian of all things culinary. She says:

Do you have a favorite recipe? Some delicious dessert you love to make, perhaps? A favorite batch of cookies to share with frieds during a movie? Carmel corn to munch during the Christmas season? A delectably mouth-watering dinner dish you love to prepare for guests? A particular food you dream of while you eat institutional mush? Share your recipes with me! Continue Reading >>

Sensible, Righteous, Godly

Day’s Verse:
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and godly in the present age…
Titus 2:11-12

On a random note, wow. On the other random note (ray!) the picture is of the new Seattle Public Library. Its outer walls all look like that. I hope they took Washington’s propensity to shake into account. Finally, Ian updated his blog, that once-in-a-blue-moon event you really don’t want to miss. Encourage him and maybe he’ll do it more often! Continue Reading >>

A Valentine’s Day Choice

Day’s Verse:
Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
Titus 2:6-8

In honor of this day, I offer the picture at right. To inspire all ponential lovers everywhere.

Yesterday I allowed myself a nice luxurious funk, but found that in the end a too-large bowl of hot chocolate pudding and a Star Trek episode really cures all ills. Then Ian and I had a really long, amazingly productive talk for a good two hours, which left us feeling warm and fuzzy inside, although that may have had something to do with being cuddled up under our big down comforter and handmade quilt. It is a really amazing quilt. I will post a picture when I figure out how to take one of something so big and hard to display. Continue Reading >>

Be Sensible.

Day’s Verse:
Encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
Titus 2:4

I suddenly realized that my life is not only pathetically boring, but it is also totally devoid of any semblance of, well, life. People go to parties, spend time with friends, get out of Worcester, have things to tell each other. I studiously pursue homework, then when that is done I do more homework, then maybe I watch a Star Trek or Babylon 5 with the only two people I ever see. Continue Reading >>
