Happy Easter

Happy Easter. Christ is risen! As has the sun, which made an appearance yesterday and may again today, much to the delight of pretty much everybody.

Bikes and Peeps

Here’s how I spent Sunday*:

I went for a really nice 65-mile bike ride midmorning through midafternoon. Here’s the route.

The guy I rode with is a Cat 4 racer, and could pretty easily have left me far behind — and did on all the hills, which is where I’ve had the most dramatic decrease in riding fitness — but mostly kept it to a “mellow” pace (for him) that I could maintain well enough. It was a gorgeous day for a ride, the first day since last summer I got out when it was sunny and above 50°, and the route and company were exactly what I was looking for. I got home feeling exhilarated. I haven’t gotten in a good long ride in quite a while, and this ride scratched that itch perfectly. It reminded me why I like riding, something I was starting to lose sight of through all the rainy, windy days of riding solo very, very slowly. Continue Reading >>
