Yesterday a guy came to our house as part of the remodeling. His job: to apply “mud” to the ripped-up walls to repair them. It struck me that people have been covering their walls with mud for thousands of years, and that despite all our advanced technology and high culture, we’re still smearing mud on our walls to cover them. Now that’s progress! It even feels like mud – not that I would know, because I wasn’t the one to put my hand on the freshly-smeared wall. No sirree.
