I’m not normally the type to get overly excited about something, but I just got a phone call today from a woman at the Society of Professional Communicators telling me that I’d won the scholarship I applied for months ago! They loved my writing and thought I was very mature (ha, fooled them) and are going to present it to me at their next meeting! And they’re sending a press release to the Seattle Times! I am so incredibly enthused, not just for getting the scholarship but because an outside group is acknowledging that my writing is worthwhile. It’s not just my family, my friends; these strangers liked my writing! There is hope!

Please refrain from counting the number of exclamation points I just used. It’s obscene.
