Today, after landing in Chicago from SeaTac, Ian told me that he was tired of me being responsible. He said I was too responsible, that I never put my homework off until the last minute or dropped everything to do something fun. In the back of my head I wanted to laugh because who complains about their companions exercising too much responsibility? Does this phrase, too responsible have actual meaning? Should I stop doing my homework, randomly skip classes to fitz around in Boston, or – as Ian suggested – go to Australia for a month after I graduate from college? My response to that suggestion, that I wanted to be able to start working as soon as I finished and a month in Australia would not look good to prospective employers, prompted Ian’s charge.
