Day’s Verse:
Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.

Group PhotoNaNoWriMo starts today! That means that this blog will no longer pertain at all to my life. Instead, I will flood it with 50-word stories for the next month. Scientists have calculated that writing 40 of those stories per day will guarantee my completion of the NaNoWriMo challenge. Check my NaNoWriMo Author Profile page to observe my numerical progress.

I’m still deciding: should my stories all tie into a larger story, or should they just be totally random vignettes?

Also, see my Flickr page if you want more pictures of Vermont.

  1. I love the new background–very fitting. If it was me, I’d write random vignettes so give myself more latitude. But then, I couldn’t do it at all. . .

  2. Deborah, I bet you could do it. I think everybody has a story to tell; the hard part is verbalizing it. NaNoWriMo is just a way of forcing people to verbalize what they’ve been storing up for days, weeks, years.

It’s also a matter of discipline: write 2,000 words in one day, don’t deviate, and don’t let the words’ suckiness stop you. Part of the NaNoWriMo fun is its craziness, and the acceptance that most of what we’re writing is total crap. But, as they say, at least you’re writing.

Anyway, I think you’re not giving yourself credit where it’s due — you’re very creative in all sorts of ways, and I don’t doubt if you put your mind to it, you could win NaNoWriMo too.

  3. I just looked at the NaNo site. It really sounds interesting. Remind me about this in Oct. next year and maybe I’ll give it a try.
