Tikatee tack. Crisply: Tap tap tap. Swish. Murmur. Hear background humming, some secret air conditioner a hidden metaphor. Endless, patient, technological. Clacking fingernails on keys. Slight cough. Harder intentation of space bar, enter key. Shuffle of papers, flip of pages. Not quite silent, not quite noisy, the academic sounds resound.
