Tomorrow I start my job with Charles River Labs. I feel apprehensive, not particularly excited because the nervousness keeps mounting just above the excitedness level. Because orientation starts at 8:15, I am taking the car in the morning and dropping Ian off very, very early for work (and picking him up quite late; he will have a long day for a few days this week). I just hope I don’t make too much of a fool of myself, getting lost in the maze of hallways, forgetting names, and so forth. I honestly just keep praying, Oh Lord, keep me from looking stupid. But really the important thing is to remember that I’m His instrument. I’m here to do God’s will, and beyond that if I look stupid, oh well.

The last five days I’ve read all the Harry Potter books, gone for a bike ride for the first time in about four years, seen a Guster concert in Providence with Darren and Nora, and…um…that’s about it. Nora spent the night with us over Wednesday; we visited Bearly Read Books, a lovely bookstore near my and Ian’s apartment. Then we drove to Providence on Thursday to enjoy the day with Darren in a hot, shadeless field listening to mediocre music. I had fun, especially the Cheesecake Factory in the evening and walking around Providence during the day. That’s about it for those five days.
