Day’?s Verse:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
Philippians 4:6-8

As Americans, we often become wrapped up in the accumulation of things. We use things to describe ourselves, buying cars, shoes, clothes, and even housing that say something about who we are. Although I hold my possessions as lightly as I can, I still find myself collecting more and more stuff over the years. Inevitably, some of this stuff does accurately represent, well, me. If you reduced my personality to a pile of objects, this would be me:

I put up a couple other shots on my Flickr page because just one picture failed to capture all the details of the objects I had gathered together. The one thing I left out was a keyboard, not having one handy and being disinclined to disconnect mine. The books I chose quite specifically from our shelves as ones that I particularly enjoyed or would rank highly among my favorites of all time.

What collection objects would you say personify or symbolize your personality best?

  1. Hmm… I’d probably say my Pooh Bear above everything, a paintbrush, a piano keyboard, sheet music, my camera, a drama mask, Gus (though he’s not exactly an object, haha)…hmm…a spatula or spoon, a videogame controller, my red sneakers, and a pen.

  2. I see a little Out of the Silent Planet in that photo! I just read that trilogy and I adore CS Lewis three times as much as I did before. That series was great.

I’m pretty well symbolized by my cardboard tube of 20 or so red-blue 3D glasses, my Surge bucket hat, my unicycle, my Dear Friends concert poster, and I suppose my Wii.
