Day’s Verse:

~~~
Today we’re moving from Worcester to Shrewsbury. I say moving, rather than moved, because here we are at noon in Shrewsbury with no sign of our computers or boxed up stuff. Our cubes don’t even have chairs (fine by me, since I have an exercise ball I sit on, and a coworker kindly brought that in her car for me), or anything really. They do have windows, which is actually a little odd, because you end up seeing the person in the cube next to you or you see the hallway with people walking by. I think that may turn out to be rather distracting. Also, the phones come with a twenty-page manual, they email you when you get a message, and one of the help options is called Phone Recently Rebooted. When you talk about rebooting a phone… Continue Reading >>
With the Brightness of a Thousand Suns
Day’?s Verse:
You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness.
Ephesians 4:4-6
Weekend of Wheels
Day’?s Verse:
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’?s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
Ephesians 1:7-8
More talk about bikes! Ian and I took this Friday off, rented him a bike of the correct size (his current bike is circa 8th grade), and escaped to the Cape. As soon as we crossed over the Bourne Bridge, we pulled into some side streets and found the start of our first bike trail, the Cape Cod Canal trail. Continue Reading >>
Strangely Successful
Day’?s Verse:
After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?
Galatians 3:3
Specialized Jett saddleLast night, about a mile or so from the train station, my bike started emitting a very strange noise. I rode for a little ways, thinking, What a strange, moss-covered rock!…oops, sorry, wrong thought. I actually spent that 30 seconds wondering what on earth the noise was. It took me very little time to realize that, whatever it was, I needed to stop and investigate more thoroughly. Time almost never improves a situation that involves strange, unidentified noises emitted by moving vehicles. Continue Reading >>
Bad Slogans
Day’?s Verse:
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
Galatians 2:20
We received some test article today from a third party. Their slogan kills me:
We develop drugs…and relationships.
Oh man. Oh man. No wonder they put it in such microscopic text under their name!
On similar lines, the other day I thought of a great slogan for a cheapo grocery store:
Low Price and Quality Guaranteed
I think I missed my calling here.
Freezing Shower Conundrum
~~~
Day’?s Verse:
So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.
Galatians 2:16

Facilities turned off the hot water to the showers at work last Monday. I guess they figured nobody was still using them showers, so why keep the hot water going? Unfortunately for yours truly, even when apprised of their mistake — I firmly, even forcefully, have explained that I still use the showers daily, thank you very much, and a freezing shower in a heavily air-conditioned locker room following a chilly bike ride isn’?t exactly loads of fun, or even healthy — facilities decided to let it slide. The general feeling, echoed by my boss!, is Why fix it for one single person when we’?re leaving this building October 31st? Continue Reading >>

Day’?s Verse:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Galatians 1:3-5

You know I get excited about bike stuff. I rave about my clipless pedals, my waterproof, butt-flapped, armpit-breathable jacket, and my amazingly functional fenders. Have I mentioned that it rained all last week? And did I say that I stayed twice or three times as dry as before, getting almost zero water from the road thanks to the fenders I had installed a month ago? Wow. Seriously. I keep hoping for more rain, just for the novelty of staying dry riding on wet roads. Continue Reading >>
