Day’?s Verse:
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Ian and I are home for Christmas. We flew back on the 6:00 nonstop Alaska Airlines flight; our heads finally hit those nice soft pillows at about 3:00 am Boston time — which did not, alas, keep us from waking up at 3:30 am Seattle time. Thank goodness for naps. Today I put my bike together, rode it to a local bike shop to have it checked out (they adjusted the shifting, the brakes a little bit, and the handlebar orientation), and then went for a 25-mile ride to test it out. My feet got soaked in classic Seattle weather, since I had forgotten to wear baggies on my feet, but otherwise I had a nice ride on the Sammamish River Trail. No cars! Then Ian and I wrapped presents, napped, and I finished reading The City of Dreaming Books, a novel I picked up for the airplane. My review: Strange, but entertaining. Our time at home has started filling up with going to art exhibits, seeing plays, hanging out with family, and visiting friends — in short, the perfect relaxing vacation.

I will probably be to busy relaxing between now and the time we go back to Massachusetts, so I won’?t be posting again. See you on January 6th!
