Day’?s Verse:
For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Thunderstorms in January.

The forecast online had a picture of thick, dark clouds with lightning zipping out of them. Sure enough, the weather had all the features of a thunderstorm: Flashing lightning, booming thunder, bursts of drenching rain. Only it all took place in 35° F weather, with snow still on the ground. Huge, deep puddles of rainwater and snow formed along roads and fog obscured the air. What kind of winter weather is this?

Asking my coworkers, they just shrug indifferently: “We’re in New England,” they tell me. “What do you expect?” Call me crazy; I do live in a place where they have a saying: If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes. Even so, in January I expect something more like Monday’s forecast, which involves subfreezing temperatures and snow accumulation. Alas, reality seems to be converging on my expectations all too quickly, and our mild weather reprieve — fifty-degree days! Sunshine! No ice or snow! — seems to have ended.

Makes 33 rainy days in a row look like a cakewalk. If only.
